ABOUT OUR CATTLE

At Oregon Prime Beef, our cattle graze on grass for their entire lives, and in the final months, we finish them with a simple, locally sourced grain mix of just four ingredients: wheat, peas, corn, and molasses. We believe in full disclosure and understand that customers have the right to know exactly what goes into their beef, which is why we are proud to partner with local farmers to ensure transparency and control over our feeding program.

Our cattle are primarily Angus, a breed known for its calm nature and exceptional beef qualities, including superior marbling and tenderness. By focusing on sustainable practices and providing full transparency, we offer USDA-certified beef that is naturally raised and of the highest quality.

Our Story

Oregon Prime Beef is a family-owned business located in Jefferson, Oregon, run by Butch and Gabrielle Whitaker. Though they are the first in their family to sell USDA-certified beef, ranching has been part of the Whitaker family for four generations, starting in Elko, Nevada.

Butch began building their herd and selling beef to friends and family with the goal of producing locally grown, sustainable beef that meets the highest standards of quality.

Our cattle graze on grasslands in the Willamette Valley and stay on grass their whole lives. In the final months, they are supplemented with a grain mix of wheat, peas, corn, and molasses—all sourced locally. By working with nearby farmers, we can keep a close eye on the quality of what goes into our feeding program, ensuring we provide great-tasting, healthy beef.
